Young Artist Workshop 1 of 3

Create a King Island bird sighting memory box

Transform and repurpose an empty King Island cheese box into a beautifully painted “king island bird memory”.

Just in time to be a part of the much-anticipated BIRDS exhibition, this imaginative workshop will be a celebration of our feathered friends, both real and make believe!

Create your memory….

-Where did you see it? (inside/outside, daytime/nighttime)

-What was it doing? (flying/feeding/walking/sitting/fighting)

-Colour/Size/Shape/texture

-Features (head/beak/legs/body/wings)

The lid: draw and paint your bird

Inside the box: draw and paint either the environment where the bird lives or some eggs in the nest the bird might build.

Outside on the side: paint some words describing your memory

Materials (provided): pencils, acrylic paint, paint brushes, POSCA paint pens, King Island cheese box

To bring: a bit of bird inspiration (optional), perhaps a photo, nest or feather you’ve collected?

Location: Wharf Studio (next to gallery at Currie Wharf)

Taught by artist, Alison Milsom.

All art materials, snacks and drinks provided.

These workshops are free.

RSVP required for materials.

Join 1, 2 or all 3 workshops!
